Senior Project Manager (Mechanical)

Our client has been appointed as the M&E Contractor to deliver the circa £80m M&E package for the region's first large-scale indoor arena. With a capacity of 19,500, the venue will rank among the UK's biggest, following closely behind Manchester's Co-op Live and AO Arena, and London's iconic O2.

As a Senior Project Manager (Mechanical), you will play a key role in overseeing the successful delivery of the mechanical elements of this large-scale project, ensuring high standards of quality, safety, and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the mechanical delivery of the project from pre-construction through to completion, ensuring programme, cost, and quality objectives are met.
  • Manage project teams, including engineers, supervisors, and subcontractors, ensuring clear communication and accountability.
  • Oversee the installation of key mechanical systems, including HVAC, public health, and fire protection, in line with project specifications.
  • Coordinate with the electrical and structural teams to ensure seamless integration of services.
  • Manage project risks, identifying and resolving potential issues proactively.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Maintain strong client relationships, attending meetings and providing progress updates.
  • Work closely with the commercial team to manage budgets, procurement, and contract administration.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience managing mechanical packages on large-scale M&E projects (£50m+ preferred).
  • Strong background in delivering major commercial or public sector projects, ideally in the leisure, entertainment, or infrastructure sectors.
  • Proven leadership and stakeholder management skills.
  • Knowledge of modern construction methods, building services design, and installation processes.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and the ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
  • Relevant qualifications in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services (HND/HNC/Degree).
  • SMSTS, CSCS (Black Card), and relevant health & safety certifications.
