Project Overview: A major hospital transformation is underway as part of the Hospitals £320m Transformation Programme (HTP). This includes the construction of a new four-storey building, set for completion by 2028. The facility will house enhanced emergency care, critical care, and women & children’s services. The project aims to deliver a state-of-the-art healthcare facility, with construction ongoing while hospital services remain operational.
We are seeking a Health & Safety Advisor to join the £320M hospital transformation project. This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to develop their career in health and safety within the construction and M&E sectors. You will play a key role in ensuring that health, safety, and environmental standards are upheld across the project, contributing to the safety and well-being of all site personnel and stakeholders. Reporting to the Health & Safety Manager, you will be responsible for supporting the implementation of safety procedures, conducting site inspections, and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the development and implementation of health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures on-site.
- Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Support the development of risk assessments and method statements for high-risk activities.
- Monitor safety performance and assist in promoting a safety-first culture across the project team.
- Advise the project team on health and safety matters and help to develop corrective actions where required.
- Provide support during incident investigations and ensure that lessons are learned and shared across the team.
- Assist with the preparation of health and safety reports and ensure accurate documentation is maintained.
- Conduct toolbox talks, training sessions, and safety briefings for workers to increase awareness of safety procedures.
- Support the Health & Safety Manager in promoting compliance with legislation, including health and safety at work regulations and environmental laws.
- Liaise with external health and safety bodies, consultants, and contractors to ensure project compliance.
Qualifications:
- NEBOSH Construction Certificate or equivalent (essential).
- Ideally working towards a NEBOSH Diploma or higher qualification.
- Relevant health and safety qualification or training.
Experience:
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a health and safety role within the construction or M&E sector.
- Previous experience on large-scale construction projects is highly desirable.
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of health, safety, and environmental legislation and best practices.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to identify and mitigate risks proactively.
- Competent in the use of health and safety management software and MS Office applications.
